About The Position

Leidos is actively seeking a Data Scientist to join their growing team in St. Louis, MO. This role requires an understanding of GEOINT integration work and acting as a Data Scientist for NGA, with a basic understanding of GEOINT from collection, exploitation, analysis, and product delivery capabilities. The position involves providing data management and automation support to a specialized imagery and geospatial analysis division within a government or enterprise organization. The work includes assisting with developing a modernized data management workflow, collaborating with senior data scientists and developers, researching and documenting existing data management practices, designing improved workflows with automation, and ensuring integration with modern database applications and enterprise-level APIs. Additionally, the role will enhance existing models and simulations, support data management initiatives, develop code and scripts (including converting legacy applications to Python), implement enterprise database management standards, automate data preparation and reporting tasks, deliver technical solutions to modernize operational processes, conduct data investigations using applied statistics and algorithm development, and translate complex findings for non-technical audiences through visualizations and dashboards.

Requirements

3-6 years’ experience in programming languages such as Python or R (statistical analysis), data preprocessing, and basic machine learning algorithms.
Active TS/SCI with willingness to be approved for a Polygraph
Bachelor’s Degree in related field (additional years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree)
Working knowledge of ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcPro
Familiarity with common data science libraries and frameworks
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Postgis, PgAdmin
Familiarity with Application programming interfaces (APIs)

Nice To Haves

Experience with workflow management systems, such as Flowable
Working knowledge of MapInfo/ MapBasic
Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau

Responsibilities

Provide data management and automation support to a specialized imagery and geospatial analysis division within a government or enterprise organization.
Assist with developing a modernized data management workflow supporting multiple organizational programs.
Collaborate with senior data scientists, database developers, and analysts to implement and sustain updated database processes and workflows.
Research and document existing data management practices, procedures, and system dependencies.
Help design improved workflows with automation incorporated from the outset.
Ensure new workflows integrate effectively with modern database applications and enterprise-level application programming interfaces.
Enhance existing models and simulations involving production, monitoring, and change-detection data.
Support additional data management and modernization initiatives as required.
Develop code and scripts, including the conversion of legacy applications written in multiple programming languages into Python-based solutions.
Implement enterprise database management standards, processes, and controls.
Automate repetitive data preparation, validation, transformation, and reporting tasks.
Deliver technical solutions that apply industry best practices to modernize existing operational processes.
Conduct data investigations using applied statistics, algorithm development, and collaboration with subject-matter experts.
Translate complex analytical findings and operational realities into clear explanations for non-technical audiences.
Create visualizations and dashboards from diverse data sources that are accessible and understandable to non-technical users.
