About The Position

Reuters is seeking a Data Scientist to develop artificial intelligence products for Reuters News. This role involves creating deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models using advanced research and cloud solutions, with a focus on data preparation, testing, and performance evaluation. The Data Scientist will work on news technology projects supporting global newsrooms and Reuters' news production strategy, collaborating with various stakeholders to define technological approaches for news dissemination. The position is part of a collaborative team working closely with the CTO on AI and non-AI software products for global newsrooms. The role requires a blend of strategic and practical work, building news solutions that enhance the use of multimedia in news delivery and analyzing data to understand news consumption. Responsibilities include evaluating systems using performance metrics for strategic decision-making and acting as a listener and problem solver to understand user needs and develop innovative solutions.

Requirements

Demonstrable experience in Python with a strong grasp of software engineering standard methodologies (code-reusability, modularity, use of repos, etc.).
Demonstrable, applied experience in ML, deep learning, or Computer Vision.
Demonstrated expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence tasks such as feature engineering, image processing, NLP, or model training.
Knowledge and experience with recent machine learning frameworks.
Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining high quality, robust, and maintainable code.
Experience in automation, system monitoring, and cloud-native applications, with familiarity in AWS or Azure.
Ability to work with large data sets, including preparation, labeling, and analysis tasks.
Comfortable with Agile practices.
Comfortable with giving web presentations on investigations or work.

Responsibilities

Create deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models using state-of-the-art research and cloud platform solutions.
Focus on data preparation, testing, and evaluation of metric performance.
Work on news technology projects that support global newsrooms and Reuters' news production efforts.
Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to determine the technological path for news dissemination.
Work closely with the CTO on AI and non-AI software products for global newsrooms.
Build news solutions that aid in the use of video, photo, and text multimedia for high-speed information delivery.
Gather and prepare datasets while training analytical models.
Assist with evaluating systems using performance metrics for strategic decision-making.
Understand pain points and areas for innovation by working with editorial and technological stakeholders.
Establish the best course of action for building and delivering practical, innovative solutions with user needs at the forefront.
