About The Position

As a Data Scientist at Ford, you will serve as a domain expert in at least one core data science discipline (e.g., NLP, Generative AI, Computer Vision, forecasting, or prognostics), applying deep hands-on expertise to tackle challenging business problems where standard methods fall short. You'll design and deliver production-grade solutions, lead methodology and tooling decisions, and partner closely with business stakeholders to translate complex data insights into strategic direction. You will interact directly with manufacturing personnel to identify data sources and understand key process details, performing data exploration to formulate hypotheses and developing models that deliver actionable insights back to the manufacturing floor. You'll collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to design and develop applications consistent with standard development methods and milestones, and support the deployment of these applications within the manufacturing process through rigorous model verification and hands-on training of end users. Once deployed, you'll continue to support these applications by resolving issues that arise during use and enhancing them based on ongoing user feedback. Beyond individual technical excellence, you'll mentor and oversee the work of junior and mid-level data scientists, champion best practices across the team, and help shape Ford's broader data-driven culture and roadmap. At Ford Motor Company, we believe freedom of movement drives human progress. With our incredible plans for the future of mobility, we have a wide variety of opportunities for you to accelerate your career and help us define tomorrow’s transportation.
