We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to support a large Federal agency by delivering advanced analytics and business intelligence. In this role, you will play a critical part in optimizing contact center and field office operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning and data architecture, paired with extensive experience extracting actionable insights from complex workforce management and customer interaction data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant professional experience; OR a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the construction, testing, and application of regression, decision tree, and machine learning models.
  • Excellent skill in modern programming languages (Python, R, Scala) and big data processing tools (Apache Spark, Snowflake, or equivalent).
  • Experience with common cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with data manipulation, ML, and visualization libraries (e.g., HuggingFace, Plotly, Pandas).
  • Experience with deep learning, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing (NLP).
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Tableau.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, utilizing project management tools such as Jira.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Mining, Information Capture, Prototyping, and Query/Database Access tools.
  • One (1) or more active certifications related to data science, cloud architecture, and/or security.
  • Confident communicator, creative thinker, motivated problem solver, standout colleague, and life-long learner with an enthusiasm for quantitative problem-solving.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C#, Java, or .NET is a plus.
  • Extensive background in contact center operations, including familiarity with CCaaS platforms (e.g., Amazon Connect), Workforce Optimization (WFO) suites (e.g., Verint), and analyzing omnichannel routing data.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business needs and identify opportunities for process optimization across contact center and field office operations using cutting-edge data science.
  • Create and implement descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models to drive operational impact and optimize workforce management.
  • Build models and simulations to describe data trends, predict events (such as contact volume or agent shrinkage), and prescribe actionable courses of action.
  • Utilize statistical analysis, unsupervised/supervised machine learning, and deep learning to solve complex challenges.
  • Design creative AI and ML algorithms and develop robust analytic pipelines for analyzing large-scale, disparate, and complex datasets.
  • Analyze algorithms, write scripts, automate processes, and apply the right combination of tools to turn raw data into objective answers for agency leadership.
  • Design and implement data architectures and standards to govern how business information is collected, stored, integrated, and utilized.
  • Work closely with the customer to understand their unique problems and constraints, digging into their data-rich environment to piece together information puzzles.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization to design and execute technical studies across a variety of domains.
  • Effectively communicate principled conclusions from data using mathematics, statistics, and application-specific knowledge.
  • Clearly present findings, novel insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
