About The Position

The Data Scientist – Bioinformatics will join Sanofi’s Computational Target Identification team, part of the global Data and Computational Science organization. The team uses computational approaches to uncover and prioritize vaccine targets and contribute to Sanofi’s drug discovery pipeline. This role connects experimental biologists and computational teams, applying bioinformatics and data science to microbiology to inform scientific decisions. The scientist independently develops analyses, databases, and dashboards that support vaccine projects. The role focuses on assessing and prioritizing vaccine targets and antigen selection, establishing evidence linking infections and diseases, and developing tools and data resources for target identification. It also involves communicating findings and coordinating project work with Vaccines R&D data and digital teams and other Sanofi stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field and at least 3 years of bioinformatics research experience in an academic and/or industry setting; alternatively, a master’s degree in one of these fields and at least 2 years of bioinformatics research experience.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with omics and large-scale biological data analysis.
  • Experience with comparative genomics (pangenome), phylogeny, functional prediction, NGS data analysis (genomics and transcriptomics), data visualization, and data engineering.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate bioinformatics and data science approaches to assess and prioritize vaccine targets and antigen selection in response to vaccine project needs.
  • Design and apply methods including bacterial comparative genomics, phylogeny, functional prediction, and omics data analysis to establish evidence of association and causality between infections and diseases.
  • Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and databases for antigen target identification and selection.
  • Interpret and communicate scientific findings to computational and experimental colleagues, contributing to publications, reports, and internal presentations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project activities with Vaccines R&D data and digital teams and broader Sanofi stakeholders, defining action plans and supporting project progression.

Benefits

  • Health and wellbeing benefits, including high-quality healthcare and prevention and wellness programs.
  • At least 14 weeks of gender-neutral parental leave.
  • Rewards package recognizing employee contributions.
  • Opportunities for career growth through promotion or lateral moves, domestically or internationally.
