Western Door Federal is seeking a full-time Senior Data Scientist to support our Department of Defense client in the National Capital Region (NCR). Objective: The Senior Data Scientist serves as a hybrid analytics and advisory lead, responsible for delivering advanced data analysis, executive‑level dashboards, and decision support to senior stakeholders. This role focuses on transforming complex operational and financial support data into clear, actionable insights that improve transparency, execution oversight, and organizational decision‑making across headquarters and regional organizations.

Requirements

  • US. citizenship.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data analytics, reporting, decision‑support analysis, or dashboard development (including internships).
  • Document experience using tools like PowerBI, SQL and QLIK.
  • Bachelor’s degree discipline: Accounting, Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Administration or other related business, scientific or technical discipline.
  • Unless otherwise noted, education and experience may be substituted on a 1:1 basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Defense Agency Initiative (DAI).
  • Advanced experience developing executive‑level dashboards and analytical products.
  • Strong background in data modeling, data quality, and governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to support senior leadership decision‑making through analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted analytics advisor to senior leaders by interpreting complex operational and execution‑related data to surface trends, risks, and performance insights that inform prioritization, corrective actions, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Translate analytical outputs into clear, executive‑ready narratives and recommendations that support both short‑term operational needs and longer‑term organizational objectives.
  • Lead the definition, standardization, and governance of operational data, establishing consistent data structures, hierarchies, and validation rules to ensure accuracy, reliability, and defensibility.
  • Design and maintain data models that enable trend analysis, root‑cause identification, and historical comparisons while supporting leadership oversight and audit‑ready reporting.
  • Design, enhance, and manage enterprise‑level dashboards that provide senior stakeholders with at‑a‑glance visibility into workload, performance, and execution status.
  • Ensure dashboards effectively summarize activity volume, organizational impact, and key performance indicators, continuously refining metrics and visualizations to align with evolving leadership priorities and information needs.
  • Architect automated data integration and refresh processes that improve timeliness, reduce manual effort, and increase confidence in analytical outputs.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, where appropriate, to present a unified operational view, while identifying and resolving issues related to data aggregation, mapping, or visualization that could impair decision quality.
  • Conduct ongoing trend and performance analysis to identify recurring issues, emerging risks, and systemic drivers affecting execution or service delivery.
  • Develop analytical views that allow leaders to move from high‑level summaries to detailed drivers and contributing factors, and support longitudinal analysis to inform remediation strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with program leadership, functional experts, and organizational stakeholders to ensure analytics accurately reflect real‑world operations.
  • Present dashboards and findings during leadership briefings, reviews, and working sessions, using clear, concise, and defensible language, while maintaining strong documentation and data discipline to ensure outputs are suitable for oversight, review, or audit environments.
