As a Data Scientist within PNC's Data, Modeling & Analytics Marketing & Customer Analytics organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Tysons Corner, VA or Wilmington, DE. Role Overview: The Data Scientist - Marketing Valuations will support profitable growth by developing, enhancing, and applying valuation analytics and statistical models to inform marketing decisions. This role focuses on analyzing customer, offer, and channel economics to generate insights that help guide prioritization, optimization, and investment decisions across marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid foundation in statistical modeling and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, economics, data science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in data science, advanced analytics, quantitative modeling, marketing analytics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain analytical results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
  • Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support PNC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

  • Familiarity with marketing valuation concepts, including customer lifetime value, offer economics, marketing measurement, or related analytical methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Valuation Modeling & Forecasting: Assist in the development and maintenance of valuation and forecasting models, including Net Present Value (NPV), Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), and Offer Economics models to support marketing budget and investment decisions.
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to measure performance, estimate incremental impact, and evaluate business trade-offs.
  • Business Analysis & Insights: Analyze customer and marketing data to identify trends, evaluate opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Analytical Execution: Support the end-to-end analytical process, including data preparation, exploratory analysis, model development, validation, and performance monitoring.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, finance, and data teams to understand business needs, communicate analytical findings, and support implementation of valuation-based recommendations.
  • Performs analytical tasks on vast amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights.
  • Participates in the data gathering, data processing and data mining of large and complex datasets.
  • Develops algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques like machine learning to predict business outcomes and recommend optimal actions to management.
  • Runs analytical experiments in a methodical manner to find opportunities for product and process optimization.
  • Assists in the presentation of business insights to management using visualization technologies and data storytelling.
  • May partner with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.
