The Data Science and Biostatistics Unit (DSBU) within the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHi) collaborates with researchers across CHOP’s Research Institute to provide data management, analysis, and consultation on methods development, study design, and data analysis. This interdisciplinary team consists of biostatisticians, epidemiologists, data scientists, data analysts, and other methodologists. Staff have expertise in managing and using diverse multimodal healthcare data from a variety of sources and registries associated with electronic health records, clinical trials, administrative and claims datasets, and survey data. DSBU staff have experience across a wide range of machine learning and statistical methodologies, including supervised and unsupervised learning, NLP, computer vision, propensity score matching, multivariate modeling, latent variable mixture models, and geographic information systems. To support DSBU’s rapid growth in meeting the analytical needs of CHOP’s research teams, we are recruiting a Data Scientist Manager. This individual will lead a team of data scientists to ensure the delivery of consistently high‑quality work within reasonable timeframes and will collaborate with principal investigators across the Research Institute to achieve meaningful results and academic output. The ideal candidate can serve as both a mentor and an individual contributor, particularly in computer vision and/or natural language processing projects involving image, video, and unstructured text healthcare data. The Data Scientist Manager will also be responsible for advancing DSBU priorities, managing members of the data science team, and overseeing budgets. This role works collaboratively with other DSBU managers and reports to the Director of the DSBU.
