About The Position

As a Data Scientist Level 4 with Independent Software, you will play a mission-critical role in applying advanced data science techniques to complex national security challenges. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Python, workflow automation, data manipulation, and visualization—particularly within Jupyter Notebooks—to support data-driven decision making and operational efficiency. You will work closely with mission teams to transform complex and often incomplete datasets into actionable intelligence. This includes developing analytical tools, generating meaningful insights, creating impactful visualizations, and optimizing data pipelines. You will also apply your background in SIGINT and experience with RF or PROFORMA data to enhance analytical capabilities and mission outcomes. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python and experience working within Jupyter Notebooks
  • Strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and algorithm development
  • Experience working with large datasets from multiple sources, including data cleaning, transformation, and analysis
  • Experience performing exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and inference modeling
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, data mining techniques, and software engineering principles
  • Experience automating workflows and optimizing data pipelines for reproducible analytics
  • Experience working with SIGINT datasets, RF data, or PROFORMA data
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical methods to complex national security problems
  • Bachelor’s degree with 15 years of relevant experience, or Associate’s degree with 17 years of relevant experience
  • Acceptable Degree Fields: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science
  • Related fields such as Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or Physical Sciences with a strong computational focus
  • Other scientific disciplines may qualify if accompanied by 5 or more upper level courses in mathematics 300 level or higher and or computer science
  • Broader degrees may be accepted if supported by a Data Science Certificate from an accredited institution
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise across multiple data science domains including mathematical, statistical, and computational foundations
  • Perform data curation, transformation, visualization, and automation of analytical workflows
  • Develop reproducible analytics and optimize inefficient processes and data pipelines
  • Analyze large, complex datasets and draw meaningful conclusions using mathematical, statistical, and domain expertise
  • Develop analytic models and quantitative techniques for unstructured or incomplete datasets
  • Perform statistical modeling, inference, forecasting, and predictive analytics
  • Translate mission and analytical requirements into technical data specifications
  • Develop tools and visualizations that clearly communicate analytical findings and support operational decision making
  • Effectively convey complex technical concepts and analytical results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Leverage experience with SIGINT datasets, RF data, or PROFORMA data to enhance mission analysis and capabilities
