Data Scientist Lead - Data & Automation - Responsible AI
About The Position
As a Data Scientist Lead within PNC's Data & Automation - AI Governance & Oversight organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Dallas TX, or Birmingham AL. This role directs and consults on analytical projects that leverage vast amounts of structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights. It directs the data gathering, data processing and data mining of large and complex datasets, providing deep technical expertise to advance the data science capabilities of analytics teams. The role serves as a representative of PNC, understanding the needs and challenges PNC is facing and providing thought leadership around data science activities both internally and externally. It supervises the implementation of advanced analytics projects, and as an expert in the field, helps other data scientists present the analytical processes and outcomes to management. The Data Scientist Lead partners with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.
Requirements
- University / college degree.
- Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities
- Serves as the steward of the enterprise’s Responsible AI principles, providing oversight for their interpretation, implementation, and ongoing evolution across the organization.
- Leads the operations of the cross-functional Responsible AI Governance Forum, including agenda development, stakeholder engagement, decision tracking, and preparation of the enterprise’s annual Responsible AI report.
- Partners with HR, Ethics, Compliance, and other key stakeholders to define and drive enterprise-wide adoption of Responsible and Ethical AI practices, including training requirements and AI use case engagement processes.
- Reviews proposed and deployed AI solutions to ensure alignment with Responsible AI principles, identifies potential risks, and provides recommendations or escalates concerns as needed.
- Coordinates external academic research partnerships focused on advancing responsible and ethical AI practices within the financial services industry.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with senior leaders across the organization, facilitating discussions, driving alignment, and coordinating initiatives involving multiple executive stakeholders.
- Effectively communicates complex AI governance, risk, and compliance topics to executive audiences through presentations, briefings, and leadership-level discussions.
- Develops and delivers polished executive presentations, reports, and communications to support governance forums, strategic decision-making, and enterprise AI initiatives.
- Demonstrates exceptional executive presence, influencing skills, and the ability to engage confidently with leaders at all levels of the organization.
