Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Python (experience with pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data querying
  • Solid understanding of statistics (hypothesis testing, regression analysis, probability)
  • Strong conceptual understanding of machine learning model principles and hands-on experience building models
  • General understanding of AI agent principles
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical audiences
  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian accredited university or college throughout the period of the Internship/Co-op program.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid study/work permit.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to one or more of the following is a plus: tree-based models, deep learning, time series forecasting, optimization/operations research
  • Hands-on experience building or experimenting with AI agent workflows or frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with optimization solvers/libraries (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, OR-Tools)
  • Prior experience with machine learning projects (coursework, research, Kaggle competitions, etc.)
  • Familiarity with development tools such as VS Code (or similar IDEs), and GitHub
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib/Seaborn)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends, patterns, and insights
  • Contribute to one of the following: (a) building, training, and evaluating machine learning models, which may include tree-based models, deep learning, time series forecasting, or optimization/operations research techniques; or (b) developing basic AI agent workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (between business and technology) to translate data insights into actionable recommendations
  • Develop data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Document methodologies and present findings to the team
