About The Position

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This position will have a profound impact on protecting national security. KBR seeks a Lead Data Scientist to support the CAPE Joint Data Support (JDS) Division. CAPE JDS is a multi-source funded and OSD CAPE managed organization responsible for identifying, collecting, developing, analyzing, managing, and disseminating historical, current, and future years U.S. and Non-U.S. forces inventory, capabilities, and deployment data (including planning, programming, and acquisition data) supporting collaborative study teams guided by the Analysis Working Group (AWG). JDS develops standardized data products and analytic tools to support Joint analytic efforts focused on Senior Leader decision support. Additionally, JDS supports AWG led SCI/SAP/SAR studies and analyses. The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for the analysis and evaluation of user business problems and the development of system recommendations to meet requirements. This role involves analyzing current and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified methods, techniques or systems. Duties include coordinating with business and technology teams to ascertain system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of user acceptance, and may coordinate testing and system controls. The Data Scientist will develop solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple areas or disciplines, regularly employing ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems to achieve functional objectives. Communication with team members across multiple areas and client team members is essential, and the role involves influencing project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience working with object-oriented programming languages and other coding environments (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#, R, MATLAB, and Simulink).
  • Eight (8) years of experience designing, executing, and delivering data analyses leveraging at least one (1) of the following areas: Statistics (expertise with statistical modeling, experimental design, sampling, clustering, data reduction, confidence intervals, testing, modeling, and predictive modeling); Mathematics (expertise with big data and performing inventory management, forecasting, optimization, and supply chain analysis); Visualization (expertise providing visualization of data and analytic results in a meaningful way for senior decision makers to understand quickly with minimal to no explanation, using programs such as Tableau, ArcGIS, and R); Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (expertise utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for developing and running algorithms and dealing with computational complexity).
  • Adeptness in interfacing with clients.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL).
