About The Position

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities, with work impacting national security. KBR is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to support the CAPE Joint Data Support (JDS) Division. CAPE JDS is a multi-source funded and OSD CAPE managed organization responsible for identifying, collecting, developing, analyzing, managing, and disseminating historical, current, and future years U.S. and Non-U.S. forces inventory, capabilities, and deployment data, including planning, programming, and acquisition data. This data supports collaborative study teams guided by the Analysis Working Group (AWG). JDS develops standardized data products and analytic tools for Joint analytic efforts focused on Senior Leader decision support and also supports AWG led SCI/SAP/SAR studies and analyses. The Junior Data Scientist will be part of a team responsible for the analysis and evaluation of user business problems and the development of system recommendations to meet requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance to be considered for the position
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience working with object-oriented programming languages and other coding environments (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#, R, MATLAB, and Simulink)
  • Two (2) years of experience designing, executing, and delivering data analyses leveraging at least one (1) of the following areas: Statistics (Expertise with statistical modeling, experimental design, sampling, clustering, data reduction, confidence intervals, testing, modeling, and predictive modeling)
  • Two (2) years of experience designing, executing, and delivering data analyses leveraging at least one (1) of the following areas: Mathematics (Expertise with big data and performing inventory management, forecasting, optimization, and supply chain analysis)
  • Two (2) years of experience designing, executing, and delivering data analyses leveraging at least one (1) of the following areas: Visualization (Expertise providing visualization of data and analytic results in a meaningful way for senior decision makers to understand quickly with minimal to no explanation, using programs such as Tableau, ArcGIS, and R to display data)
  • Two (2) years of experience designing, executing, and delivering data analyses leveraging at least one (1) of the following areas: Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (Expertise utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for developing and running algorithms and dealing with computational complexity)
  • Adeptness in interfacing with clients
  • Demonstrated expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL)

Responsibilities

  • Support the CAPE Joint Data Support (JDS) Division
  • Analyze and evaluate user business problems and develop system recommendations to meet requirements
  • Analyze current and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified methods, techniques or systems
  • Coordinate with business and technology teams to ascertain system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, execution of user acceptance, and may coordinate testing and system controls
  • Address somewhat complex technical issues/problems using best practice and through collaboration with colleagues
  • Develop solutions to technical problems that require depth of technical knowledge, but are typically limited in complexity
  • Communicate with colleagues across multiple areas (project managers, other technical resources, etc.)
  • Explain technical solutions, practices and procedures to others within the organization
