About The Position

The Data Scientist I is an individual-contributor role focused on developing the Data Science function at PODS. The role applies Data Science and generative AI techniques to build models and algorithms that support strategic objectives, including growing the customer base and revenue, improving customer satisfaction, and optimizing resource utilization. The position balances development of PODS’s Data Science capabilities and technology stack with a focus on long-term business value and strategic goals.

The Data Scientist works closely with departmental leaders and business partners to identify opportunities, demonstrate value, and apply Data Science to business needs. The role also supports the development, packaging, and deployment of automated models and expands PODS’s knowledge of market insights and growth opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as data science, mathematics, machine learning, statistics, operations research, or computer science.
• 0–2 years of post-academic experience in a for-profit setting.
• Demonstrated experience using generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
• Modeling experience using a cloud-based technology stack such as Azure ML, Databricks, Google Cloud AI, or AWS SageMaker, including automated model training, monitoring, and analysis.
• Data acquisition, prototyping, and scripting skills in SQL, R, Python, or PySpark.
• Data visualization experience using Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience working in Agile teams.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret data and results and communicate insights and findings clearly and compellingly to management and external partners.
• Comfort working with ambiguity and demonstrated ability to structure vague or unstructured requests and discussions.

• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of PODS’s internal data and business processes.
• Build data models and algorithms to grow the customer base and revenue, improve customer satisfaction, and optimize resource utilization.
• Collaborate with colleagues and leaders in other departments to identify needs and suggest solutions using Data Science.
• Create and present reports detailing findings, recommendations, and solutions to organizational decision makers, business partners, and investors.
• Work with IT and business partners to package and deploy automated models that support business processes.
• Develop Data Science tools, frameworks, and go-to-market processes to support accurate and sustainable implementation.
• Expand PODS’s knowledge base around market insights and opportunities for growth.
