Data Scientist (Expert) - Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)
About The Position
The Data Scientist (Expert) is a specialized, Java-focused technical expert responsible for modernizing, refactoring, and maintaining mission-critical backend Java data-processing systems and microservices. Unlike traditional Python- or R-focused data science roles, this position addresses a backlog of legacy Java data pipelines and requires an expert software engineer who can contribute immediately to system performance, object-oriented design, and enterprise web-service integrations. The role supports mission-focused work and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP). It is full-time and on-site in McLean, Virginia.
Requirements
- Expert-level Core Java skills, including object-oriented programming concepts, multithreading, and JVM memory management.
- Experience with Spring and Spring Data JPA.
- Experience with Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, Git, and Jenkins.
- Experience with Oracle, Apache Tomcat, AWS Cloud Framework, and Linux.
- Experience developing and using REST web services.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP).
- Must work on-site in McLean, Virginia.

- Spring Boot and REST API Java implementations to support web applications.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, maintain, and rewrite legacy Java backend processes to align with updated operational requirements and performance standards.
- Build, maintain, and secure Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, and database integrations supporting web application architectures.
- Optimize multithreading, object-oriented design, and JVM memory management for high-throughput enterprise data flows.
- Deploy and maintain Java-based applications across AWS cloud infrastructure, Linux, Apache Tomcat, and Oracle databases.
- Use Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins, and Eclipse to support build and version control processes and continuous integration and deployment in a secure environment.
