About The Position

This role plays a critical role in shaping how data and AI drive decision making at Allstate. As a data science leader, you will guide and mentor junior data scientists, lead medium to high complexity initiatives, and influence how data driven decisions are designed, evaluated, and scaled across the enterprise. You will lead the strategic application of machine learning and predictive modeling, identifying new opportunities, advancing modeling approaches, and integrating internal and external data to improve business outcomes. Beyond model development, this role contributes to the design of the end-to-end decisioning ecosystem, partnering across business and technology teams to ensure insights translate into real-world impact. You will also play a key role in developing scalable, cloud based, and full stack capabilities that support the reliable deployment of machine learning, decisioning, and agentic systems, ensuring solutions are not only innovative but also durable, governable, and ready to operate at enterprise scale.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands on, practical experience using Python for data analysis, modelling, and building production ready solutions, along with experience using other modern data science tools (R, SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), observability concepts, and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Introductory experience or strong interest in Generative or Agentic development.
  • Exposure to AWS Bedrock and/or Azure Foundry through projects, coursework, or on‑the‑job experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
  • Familiarity with AI driven software development tools and workflows.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring a team.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, evaluates, communicates and makes recommendations on appropriateness of modeling techniques and results to team, leadership and stakeholders to ensure these are well understood and incorporated into business processes.
  • Develops and executes communication strategy, keeping stakeholders informed and influencing business partners and senior leaders on the effectiveness of machine learning/predictive modeling to solve business problems.
  • Collaborates with outside business units and works on data and complex business problems to improve the effectiveness of business decisions and business results through designing, building, and partnering to implement machine learning/predictive models.
  • Effectively understand the business' problems and requirements to identify the optimal modeling approach.
  • Develops frameworks/prototypes that integrate data and machine learning/predictive modeling to make business decisions.
  • Mentors and develop other data scientists.
  • Uses best practices to develop complex statistical, machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and to improve the accuracy of our data and data-driven decisions.
  • Identifies languages and tools that can bring efficiencies or needed techniques to the team.
  • Identifies new areas of data, research and models and develop data sources that can solve business problems.
  • Utilizes effective project planning techniques to break down complex machine learning/predictive modeling and/or development projects into tasks, manage scope of projects, and ensure deadlines are kept.
  • Manages various analytical and modeling projects with small number of team members.
