Data Scientist 2

Grvty•Annapolis Junction, MD

About The Position

GRVTY is seeking Data Scientists located in Maryland to support its team. The role applies artificial intelligence and machine learning alongside programming and cybersecurity foundations to analyze large datasets and support national security mission needs. The ideal candidate has AI/ML expertise, Python proficiency, and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow; cyber knowledge is an advantage. The Data Scientist devises strategies to extract meaning and value from large datasets and draws principled conclusions using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application-specific knowledge. Using analytic modeling, statistical analysis, programming, or other scientific methods, the role develops and implements qualitative and quantitative methods to characterize, explore, and assess datasets in varying states of organization, cleanliness, and structure, accounting for the unique features and limitations of NSA/CSS data holdings. The role translates mission needs and analytic questions about large datasets into technical requirements, assists others in drawing appropriate conclusions from data analysis, communicates complex technical information to non-technical audiences, and recommends among technical solutions while maintaining awareness of NSA/CSS collection, processing, storage, and analytic capabilities and limitations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree should be in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, applied statistics, machine learning, data science, operations research, computer science, a related field such as computer information systems or engineering, a physical or hard science, or another science discipline with a substantial computational component and the specified advanced coursework. A broader range of degrees may be considered with a Data Science Certificate from an accredited college or university.
  • For qualifying related or science degrees, coursework must include a concentration of at least five advanced mathematics courses (typically 300 level or higher) and/or computer science courses, such as linear algebra, probability and statistics, machine learning, algorithms, programming, data structures, data mining, or artificial intelligence. Elementary or basic-level college math courses do not count.
  • Relevant experience must include one or more of machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming in at least one high-level language, statistical analysis, data management, data mining, data modeling and assessment, artificial intelligence, or software engineering.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in more than one of the listed relevant experience areas is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
