About The Position

Atlas Obscura is the world's leading guide to the world's hidden wonders. We help millions of curious travelers discover the extraordinary — and we're building the next generation of tools to do it. We're launching Atlas Intelligence, a new B2B platform that measures how destinations appear in AI search (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity), giving Destination Marketing Organizations and travel brands the visibility intelligence they've never had before. Our pipeline is growing fast. The Role We're hiring a Data Science Product Manager to own the product and build side of Atlas Intelligence. You'll work directly with our CEO, our product and engineering leadership, and our client base to: Lead the product roadmap for Atlas Intelligence as it scales from launch to multi-client deployment Translate AI-search data into client-facing insights that DMOs and travel brands can act on Define the metrics, visualizations, and reporting that make the platform indispensable Partner with engineering on infrastructure handoff and ongoing build Shape the models and design and engineer front-end changes using Claude Code, in consultation with our engineering team Work with clients directly to understand needs, run demos, and shape the product Help us go from one paying customer to ten in your first six months This is a startup-paced role inside an established media company. You'll have real ownership and direct visibility to leadership. The platform is built. We need someone to take it from V1 to a category-defining product.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of product management experience, ideally with data products or analytics platforms
  • Strong comfort with data — you should consider yourself to be a data scientist or close to one, and be able to look at a dataset, ask sharp questions, and translate insights into product decisions
  • Experience working with engineering teams to ship features and manage technical roadmap
  • Client-facing experience — you've sat with users, run demos, gathered feedback, and turned it into product
  • Self-starter energy — this is a small team and you'll wear multiple hats
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Nice To Haves

  • Background in travel, hospitality, destination marketing, or media
  • Experience with B2B SaaS go-to-market
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM products or search technology
  • Experience working with React, TypeScript, or modern data visualization tools (Recharts, D3, Plotly)
