About The Position

Live Oak Bank is a digital bank serving small business owners nationwide, driven by a mission to be America's Small Business Bank through innovative service and technology. We are seeking an onsite intern for a 10-week Summer Internship program (May 17 - July 23, 2027) at our Wilmington, NC headquarters. The analytics team at Live Oak develops data science and analytics solutions to enhance our processes and products, collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and identify areas for data-driven impact. This role also provides a deep understanding of small business banking.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program such as Finance, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or other related field
• Experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python), Data Querying languages (e.g. SQL), and data visualization software
• Strong partnership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various groups in the organization
• Knowledge of basic statistical analysis

Responsibilities

• Work with key stakeholders to define and measure critical KPIs
• Build data visualizations to monitor business unit performance and display key insights
• Deep dive into complex data sets using SQL and python to improve business and product decisions
• Use machine learning to greatly increase the efficiency of our processes and products
• Identify new data sources and work to integrate them into our data platform
• Communicate and present results to key stakeholders to drive business value
