Data Science Intern (2027 Start)
About The Position
As a Data Science Intern, you will join Databricks’ Data team of data scientists and engineers. You will use Databricks business and operations data to generate insights for product design, customer acquisition and retention strategies, and improvements to engineering system efficiency, stability, and performance. The Data team also uses the Databricks platform internally and helps drive product improvements. The role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders across Product, Customer Success, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Finance. You will apply data science methods, including causal inference modeling and recommender systems, to deliver insights or deploy algorithms to the Databricks platform. You will manage a project end-to-end, from data exploration through presenting insights to stakeholders and/or deploying an algorithm in a product environment. The role is based in the Mountain View or San Francisco offices.
Requirements
- Expected to graduate in fall 2027 or spring 2028 with a Master’s or PhD degree in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Operational Research, or Engineering.
- Proven ability to work with data using SQL and Python.
- Experience with multiple statistical data analysis and machine learning methods, such as generalized linear regression, regression and classification trees, unsupervised learning methods, causal inference, stochastic processes, and time series forecasting.
- Excitement about solving ambiguous problems with a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Data team and internal stakeholders across Product, Customer Success, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to use data to solve problems.
- Apply data science methodologies, such as causal inference modeling and recommender systems, to real data and deliver insights and/or deploy algorithms to the Databricks platform.
- Manage a project end-to-end, from data exploration to presenting insights to stakeholders and/or deploying an algorithm in a product environment.
