About The Position

Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders. The internship program includes: Challenging and impactful projects, Final presentations delivered to senior executives, Executive Leadership speaker series, Professional development and training opportunities, Networking and community events, Events highlighting key areas of the business. Meijer is seeking candidates for an Merchandising and Marketing internship opportunity in our Data Science area. Join our program to get experience in your field while also learning more about the retail industry and the breadth of career opportunities that support the customer shopping experiences. The Data Science team at Meijer leads the strategy, development and integration of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at Meijer. Our Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with teams with product development and business teams to define, develop and implement a data science-based solution. Over the course of the summer the intern will have the opportunity to work with the latest cloud technology including machine learning and artificial intelligence platforms.

Requirements

Progress toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree – Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field.
Customer focused -- dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.
Relationship skills -- can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies.
Communication skills -- conveys the right information in writing and verbally.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, and cloud-based platforms like Databricks.
Expertise in data mining, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, and similar tools.
Familiarity with Agile methodology and project management principles and practices.
