About The Position

What You Drive at DTNA Daimler Trucks North America LLC seeks a Data Science & Business Intelligence Generalist III out of our office at 4555 N Channel Ave., Portland, OR 97217. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science or related, plus 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must have experience with: Cost Engineering and Project Controlling process & deliverables; business intelligence processes and tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx, PowerApps, database connections, and SQL; database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL framework; and Reference Engineering Calculation, Commercial Vehicle Development System (CVDS) Process, Series Referencing, TRaCE, SPEAR, Engineering Change Request, Comet +, ProQ, IMS & WBV.
  • 8 years of experience in a related field.
  • Must have experience with: Cost Engineering and Project Controlling process & deliverables; business intelligence processes and tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx, PowerApps, database connections, and SQL; database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL framework; and Reference Engineering Calculation, Commercial Vehicle Development System (CVDS) Process, Series Referencing, TRaCE, SPEAR, Engineering Change Request, Comet +, ProQ, IMS & WBV.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically develops complex systems, interconnects cross-functional to and transforms data into valuable information used to make sound business decisions.
  • Works closely but not limited to Cost Engineering, Project Controlling, IT, Purchasing, Engineering, and the Global Cost Engineering network within Daimler Trucks (Brazil, Japan, India, and Europe).
  • Global responsibilities include leading global Cost Engineering (CE) digitalization group to share information, communize systems/processes where applicable, train others on digitalization topics, and foster innovation and benchmark methods.
  • Educating/training other employees to utilize new analytical tools, display information in new form, and content for the purpose of analysis, reporting and steering purposes.
  • Be the central point of contact for BI related processes and questions related to data provision direction on data governance.
  • Clarify requirements with the IT team, which is responsible for the technical integration of systems, and ensure the functional integration of data.
  • Digitalization Head lead for Project Controlling, local and global Cost engineering.
  • Act as a BI expert advisor to management and key external stakeholders on job field related projects, overlapping analysis with technical competency to illustrate results or suggested solutions to senior level stakeholders and the wider business.
  • Analyze large quantities of data and develops means for reporting on the overall performance of business segments.
  • Develop metrics to measure various characteristics of the business.
  • Use analytical thought with knowledge of business operation to independently solve complex problems with minimal guidance to identify solutions.
  • Overlaps analysis with technical competency to illustrate results or suggested solutions to senior level stakeholders and the wider business.
  • Model advanced methods of combining charts, maps, timelines and infographics into comprehensible dashboards; may create visualizations of complex relationships and big data sets in a user-friendly and easy-to-understand way to facilitate business decision making.
  • Act as a resource and guide for colleagues with less experience.
