About The Position

Mativ is seeking a Data Science & Business Intelligence Intern for its Summer 2027 internship program in Alpharetta, Georgia. The internship runs from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027, and gives college students the opportunity to develop advanced data science skills while supporting Mativ’s strategic objectives. The paid program includes meaningful work, a dedicated intern manager, community service, and professional development. The intern will work with the BI team to develop capabilities in Azure Cloud and Power BI environments, build models for real-world business problems, and contribute to data science projects spanning pipelines, aggregation, feature engineering, modeling, and visualization. The role also involves working with business and IT stakeholders to define requirements, analyzing manufacturing and business data, and communicating findings and project status to product, service, and business managers.

Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Proficient understanding of Python-based object-oriented programming.
Experience with software and model engineering concepts such as versioning, model deployment, and model retraining.
Hands-on experience with Python libraries such as scikit-learn, unittest, pytest, Flask, and MLflow.
Understanding of Git workflows and CI/CD.
Experience creating and editing presentations in PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, organizational, presentation, and time-management skills.
Strong attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and respond quickly to situational needs.
Ability to analyze information to find opportunities, communicate effectively, and collaborate in a team setting.

Responsibilities

Work with the BI team to build capabilities in the Azure Cloud Environment and Power BI front-end environments.
Develop models and solutions to address real-world business problems.
Learn and apply the software development lifecycle in a professional environment.
Assist in developing a library containing currently engineered features.
Participate in business and IT meetings to develop business requirements.
Build networking relationships and receive mentoring from team members and top-level management.
Communicate findings and project status clearly and professionally through presentations.
Apply strategic thinking and data analytics to business problems and opportunities, and create high-quality analytics solutions.
Use database applications and analytical tools, including SQL, Qlik View, and Qlik Sense.
Work on data science project stages including data pipelines, aggregation, feature engineering, modeling, and visualization.
Interact with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments.
Communicate analysis findings to product, service, and business managers.
Learn models developed by the Digital group and help standardize them using pipelines.
Understand manufacturing processes and common data manipulation tasks.
