About The Position

Goodstart is looking for a Data Quality Engineer to join our ICT team and play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy and reliability of our data solutions. You’ll work across data pipelines, databases, data modelling, warehousing, semantic models and Power BI reporting, taking requirements and business rules from start to finish to ensure our data solutions are accurate, reliable and fit for purpose. You’ll work closely with our Data, Engineering, BI and broader ICT teams to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, support remediation and ensure quality through to successful go-live.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in data quality, data validation or data-focused QA environments.
  • Hands-on experience working across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and SQL environments.
  • Strong SQL skills, with the ability to investigate, validate and reconcile data.
  • Experience working with data pipelines, databases, data modelling and data warehousing.
  • Demonstrated experience validating Power BI semantic models and reports.
  • Experience using Python and DAX within a data environment.
  • Experience translating requirements and business rules into data validation approaches, test plans and test cases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and undertake root cause analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must have or obtain a valid working with children check.
  • Must have or obtain Certificate of Completion for the National Child Safety Foundation Training, completed via Geccko platform.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Web Intelligence (WebI) - highly regarded.
  • Exposure to SAP BI and/or SAP HANA.
  • Experience supporting data migration, re-platforming or transformation projects.
  • Experience with data-focused test automation or AI-driven testing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute data quality and validation plans based on business requirements and rules.
  • Validate data pipelines, databases, transformations, data models and warehousing environments.
  • Perform data reconciliation and investigate discrepancies across source and target environments.
  • Validate Power BI semantic models and reports, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Work across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and SQL environments.
  • Use SQL, Python and DAX to analyse, validate and troubleshoot data.
  • Review requirements and technical documentation and translate these into effective data validation approaches.
  • Identify, document and track data quality issues, working closely with developers and data teams to support remediation.
  • Perform root cause analysis to understand and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Produce validation and quality reporting to support successful releases and go-lives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of data quality practices, processes and ways of working across the team.
