About The Position

Koniag Technology Solutions, Inc., a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced, customer-oriented Data Protection Engineer to support KTS and a government customer in Lakewood, Colorado. This role supports a future new business opportunity and a contract that has not yet been awarded; the position will not be filled if the contract is not awarded. The application deadline and start date depend on the contract status, and the posting may close early or be extended accordingly. The engineer will provide technical expertise to design, implement, and maintain enterprise data protection solutions, protecting the integrity, availability, and recoverability of critical data assets. The role involves managing and coordinating work in the data protection environment, resolving service requests, and collaborating with engineering teams to deliver timely solutions. An active Top Secret DoD clearance is required. The posting lists a bachelor's degree in a related field as preferred, while noting that equivalent experience will be considered. Requirements

5–10 years of demonstrated experience working with enterprise data protection and recovery solutions.
Demonstrated experience with EMC Avamar data protection.
Demonstrated experience with major operating systems, including Windows.
Demonstrated experience with storage systems, database management systems, and security.
Strong technical expertise in enterprise data protection and recovery solutions.
Ability to design, implement, and maintain data protection solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills across storage systems, database management systems, and data protection platforms.
Ability to respond to and resolve service requests in a timely and professional manner.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
Active Top Secret DoD clearance required and ability to maintain a valid clearance throughout employment.
A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of EMC Dell Data Domain.
Knowledge of Commvault data protection solutions.
Experience with EMC RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines (RP4VM) and vRPA.
Understanding of enterprise security services, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, networks, and endpoint security.
Experience supporting federal government or DoD data protection environments.
Relevant industry certifications, such as EMC Proven Professional, Commvault Certified Professional, or similar.

Responsibilities

Manage, track, execute, coordinate, and report on tasks related to the data protection environment.
Design, implement, and maintain data protection solutions and respond to service requests in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving backup, recovery, and data protection systems.
Collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver integrated, timely solutions.
Communicate system status, issues, and resolutions clearly and professionally to stakeholders.
Monitor data protection infrastructure for compliance with organizational policies and recovery time and point objectives (RTO/RPO).
Maintain documentation for data protection configurations, processes, and procedures.
Support capacity planning and performance optimization for data protection systems.
Assist with security assessments and remediation related to data protection and recovery infrastructure.
