About The Position

This job is responsible for maximizing the value for one or more products. Key responsibilities include working with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with product managers or specialists to ensure they are aligning on priorities and creating the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain. Job expectations include ensuring delivery of products that meet the expectations of our clients, including features, security, availability, resiliency, timelines and costs. The Data Product Owner(Strategy Lead) role is part of a horizontal function supporting all delivery verticals under the newly formed ITGPST Data Strategy and Delivery organization. This role defines data domain-level strategies and establishes consistent end-to-end data flow design patterns, while enabling accurate and timely data-focused requirements scoping by coordinating across business and technology teams to synergize efforts across multiple projects. It aligns strategic objectives and enforces standards through governance—reducing rework, ensuring regulatory and audit compliance, and enabling reusable design patterns. The role drives predictable delivery across a multi-million-dollar portfolio by embedding opportunities for strategic objectives such as data modernization, cloud migration, and AI adoption.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of applicable experience with the following skills
  • Data & Product Mindset: Strong interest in building data-driven products and solutions, with an understanding of how data supports business outcomes in a regulated environment.
  • Domain Awareness: Exposure to banking, payments, treasury, or financial services is advantageous.

Nice To Haves

  • Payments & Financial Domain Expertise: Understanding of payment rails, clearing and settlement, cross-border flows, correspondent banking, or treasury operations; familiarity with ISO 20022 and SWIFT standards.
  • Regulatory & Control Awareness: Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g. PSD2/Open Banking, AML/Sanctions), data lineage, controls, and audit readiness.
  • Data Strategy & Architecture: Experience with canonical data models, APIs, event-driven and batch processing, metadata/lineage, reference/master data, and data quality frameworks.
  • Governance & Operating Models: Experience in defining standards, control frameworks, and driving adherence to enterprise data and architecture principles.

  • AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement: Experience or strong interest in supporting AI/ML use cases, including data readiness, feature engineering, model lifecycle integration, and explainability.
  • Cloud & Platform Modernisation: Exposure to cloud ecosystems (Azure/AWS), data lake/lakehouse architectures, and modern data platforms.
  • Relevant certifications (SAFe, CDMP/DAMA, cloud, data/AI governance) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Generates the vision and roadmap for the product to align with strategic direction for the business or technology domain
  • Communicates the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems
  • Prioritizes and creates work for a team, learning to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Creates, prioritizes and refines stories in the product backlog
  • Reviews and accepts stories and makes decisions regarding scope and requirements
  • Partners with the team to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and through subject-matter expertise of the business
  • Define data domain/capability strategies, target patterns, and modernization pathways; co develop and maintain roadmaps with delivery, incorporating Inspect & Adapt learnings, technical debt, and audit findings.
  • Assess new requests to drive data landscape simplification, modernization, and governance; influence scope and design decisions
  • Lead adoption of target data patterns; co own business driven governance with DSME; ensure control efficacy and compliance readiness.
  • Lead strategic enablers during PI Planning; enforce alignment with enterprise blueprints and standardized data patterns with Enterprise Architects.
  • Validate Epic acceptance criteria for strategic and governance fit; advise on design trade offs, prioritization, and dependency management.
  • Serve as the strategy layer product manager; capture and prioritize client, regulatory, operational use cases to drive reuse and measurable value.
  • Promote canonical data contracts, shared services, and interoperability across domains; champion culture change and pattern libraries.
