About The Position

Sonar is seeking a talented Data Product Analyst (DPA) to join their product data team. The DPA will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of data as a product, from dbt SQL modeling and event-based schema governance to executive storytelling. This role requires a proactive project leader who owns the data relationship for their domain and can impact users through data literacy or lead complex, end-to-end analyses. The ideal candidate enjoys a "full-stack" analytical challenge.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years in a Data Analyst, Data Product Analyst, or Analytics Engineering role, ideally within a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of leading projects with stakeholders, translating business ambiguity into structured data projects.
  • Experience helping and mentoring other team members.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt / SQL (modeling, testing, and documentation).
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Mixpanel, or similar).
  • Comfort working in a version-controlled environment (Git).
  • Interest in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (like Cursor) to drive efficiency.
  • Ability to distill complex findings into executive-ready summaries and visualizations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Familiarity with data governance practices (PII handling and access control).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Product Analytics or working directly with Product Managers.
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, ETL / ELT pipeline) and tools (AWS, redshift, Lamdas, Databricks).

Responsibilities

  • Manage data projects from start to finish using agile methodology.
  • Help stakeholders refine their questions into structured data projects.
  • Advise stakeholders on measurement, modeling, and tool selection.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions to bridge business goals and technical execution.
  • Deliver end-to-end solutions, from ingestion and modeling to executive-ready visualizations and summaries.
  • Build and maintain scalable models using dbt (SQL).
  • Provide critical reviews of event schemas for the event-based platform.
  • Leverage Cursor and Git for development, code quality, and version control.
  • Own the user experience across Mixpanel, Tableau, Metabase, and Atlan.
  • Onboard and empower users for self-service data access.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests, including querying specific datasets and providing technical guidance.
  • Participate in Level 1 technical support, monitoring dbt jobs and Tableau extracts.
  • Use Jira for roadmap visibility and dbt/Confluence/Atlan for documentation.
  • Surface data debt, documentation gaps, and tooling friction to improve the data platform.
  • Ensure high standards for PII handling and security policies are integrated into all deliveries.
