Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience supporting and delivering Data Privacy governance, privacy risk management, and regulatory compliance programs within a financial services or highly regulated environment.
  • Building partnerships with business, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Operations stakeholders, providing practical advice and influencing the implementation of privacy requirements across business and technology programs.
  • Knowledge of global data protection and privacy regulations (such as GDPR, UK GDPR, PECR, GLBA, APPI and other regional privacy requirements) and their practical application within financial services environments (especially related to Investment Banking and Markets business activities)
  • Demonstrate experience developing and enhancing privacy frameworks, controls, policies, standards, and governance processes that support regulatory compliance and effective risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework.
  • Monitor and report on the Bank’s adherence to its obligations and commitments in relation to the responsible handling of personal data.
  • Act as a point of contact with Data Protection Authorities (DPAs).
  • Develop and maintain the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework, including the content of Data Privacy policies, processes and procedures and other artefacts.
  • Support the Bank’s Data Protection Officers in monitoring and reporting on adherence to these.
  • Provide specialist support to Business Oversight Compliance teams in their oversight of the, identification, assessment and management of potential Data Privacy risks arising from the processing of personal data and implementation of the Bank’s Data Privacy Framework.
  • Coordinate the response to personal data breaches, including appropriate containment and remediating actions.
  • Review and coordinate with 1LoD, Legal and BOC to ensure any such incidents are notified to regulators and impacted individuals in accordance with relevant statutory timeframes.
  • Manage Barclays relationship with DPAs by acting as a point of contact for them and ensuring timely responses to regulatory complaints and investigations, queries, and formal consultations.
  • Collaborate with 1LOD Data Privacy SMEs, Legal, and other relevant Compliance teams and risk management functions to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the management of Compliance Risk and other related risks.
  • Represent Barclays in key Data Privacy industry groups and associations, and use intelligence gained from these to identify areas for improvement and implementation of enhancements to the Data Privacy Framework.
  • Provide education and awareness support to employees in relation to Data Privacy, including maintenance of Group-wide mandatory training courses on Data Privacy to ensure employees are clear on their data privacy obligations, how to manage personal data securely, and how to identify and report personal data breaches.
  • Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.
  • Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function.
  • Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes.
  • Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments.
  • Identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
