About The Position

The Data & Policy Director is tasked with using strong strategic, analytical, policy, and communications skills to improve women’s health in Oklahoma while expanding access to policies affecting women in the state. This role will engage with partners, policymakers, government agencies, funders, other key stakeholders, and the community at large across Oklahoma. The Data & Policy Director will report to the Executive Director and will lead the Metriarch team in working across partners to strategically curate, develop, and disseminate public health and policy tools, resources, and research, ensuring alignment with Metriarch’s mission, values, and long-term strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health, public administration/policy work, law, or equivalent work experience (required)
  • 4+ years of work experience with community engagement (required)
  • Proven ability to lead and manage staff members and key third-party consultants through effective planning and organization, decision-making, and motivation.
  • Knowledge of the public policy process, how policies are crafted and passed in local, regional, and state policy arenas.
  • Understanding of policy dynamics in Oklahoma or a context similar to Oklahoma
  • Proficiency in the interpretation of legislative policy, both at the state and federal levels
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, composure, flexibility, and adaptability to a variety of situations.
  • Ability to project plan, track tasks, assess progress, and follow through on the execution of plans, including strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively break down complex information and theories in a manner that is clear and concise
  • Ability to build relationships and create alignment with staff and individuals from a wide range of perspectives
  • Possess excellent presentation/public speaking skills and excellent written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Demonstrated excellent time management/organizational skills and sound judgment
  • Track record of negotiating and building strategic partnerships
  • Proven ability to analyze data effectively
  • A dynamic and engaging facilitator who establishes rapport quickly with all levels of staff

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Data & Policy team consisting of: Senior Data & Research Analyst, Policy & Legislative Analyst, and Data & Policy Coordinator, and various interns, fellows, and volunteers (as needed).
  • Direct the research, analysis, communications, and advocacy surrounding women’s health policy (state and federal), ensuring Metriarch’s work is evidence-backed and executed with care and clarity.
  • Facilitate a strong, consistent advocacy presence for Metriarch by leading proactive policy engagement at the local and state levels with decision makers
  • Develop messaging materials and collateral to present to and share with Metriarch partner organizations and the community at large, in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Serve as representative and subject matter authority for Metriarch in local and regional coalitions, with policymakers, public and private sector partners, and with social justice allies.
  • Provide detail-oriented project management to advance 3rd-party contracted deliverables.
  • Maintain and support the effective use of internal organizational tools (such as HubSpot and Asana), promoting shared practices and buy-in across the Data & Policy team
  • Lead the planning and execution of Metriarch-hosted events - including Lady Charts (biannual conference) - by working directly with internal teams and external partners to manage timelines, content, and stakeholder engagement in support of organizational goals, in collaboration with the Operations and Marketing teams.
  • Provide management of Metriarch’s steering committee, as well as coalitions convened by the organization
  • Contribute to Metriarch®’s strategic direction and management, including identifying opportunities for Metriarch to influence key policy targets
  • Support and advance organizational sustainability by contributing to the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of funding for data- and policy-driven initiatives, in collaboration with executive leadership and external partners.
  • Manage special projects to establish organizational practices and procedures as they relate to policy and advocacy, ensuring operational effectiveness and scalability
  • Work effectively with Metriarch® team members to coordinate strategies, identify opportunities, and advance the policy agenda to provide resources for Oklahoma women.
