About The Position

Data Platform Developer – Business Intelligence & Automation Tucson, AZ | Onsite What if the next report someone needs… didn’t require building another report? At Universal Avionics, we’re evolving how our teams access and use data. We’re looking for a Data Platform Developer – Business Intelligence & Automation who can help us build the reusable data foundation behind faster reporting, smarter automation, and AI-enabled business insights. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, and automation. You’ll work with Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, reporting platforms, and business stakeholders to take logic that lives across individual reports and turn it into reliable, governed data structures that can scale. And yes, part of that means preparing our data for a future where AI can help answer business questions without someone building a new report every time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing, supporting, or maintaining SQL-based reporting or data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server, including stored procedures, views, and functions.
• Experience building or supporting scheduled data pipelines or ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with SSRS or a comparable enterprise reporting platform.
• Understanding of fact and dimension structures, calendar/date dimensions, and pre-aggregated reporting data.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to translate business needs into maintainable technical solutions.
• The ability to work directly with both technical and business partners.

Nice To Haves

• Microsoft Fabric experience, Power BI, star-schema or OLAP-style data design, experience preparing data for AI-assisted reporting, or experience working in aerospace, manufacturing, or another regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Build standardized fact, dimension, and pre-aggregated data structures that create a consistent foundation for reporting.
• Develop and maintain automated data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric.
• Modernize existing SSRS reporting by moving duplicated report logic into reusable data structures.
• Write, test, and maintain clean SQL, stored procedures, views, functions, and pipeline logic.
• Monitor pipelines and reporting processes, troubleshoot failures, and solve data-quality issues at the root.
• Build governed data structures that can support both traditional reporting and AI-assisted business questions.
• Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand recurring reporting needs and turn them into scalable solutions.
• Help maintain the documentation, data dictionaries, and operational practices that keep our data platform reliable as it grows.
