About The Position

STR, a division of CoStar Group, is seeking a Data Operations Associate for its Data Operations Team in Nashville. This role is crucial for managing data loading, checking, and report delivery for their benchmarking product. The associate will also handle client-related administrative tasks, including automating and managing data feeds and facilitating data exchange between STR and clients. This position requires close collaboration with clients and internal teams worldwide to ensure data accuracy and continuous provision. Responsibilities include responding to report requests and ensuring timely and accurate report delivery. The data operations team manages diverse data types such as historical data, forward booking data, and P&L data. A fundamental understanding of these data points and their client relevance is essential for accurate handling and meaningful reporting. The role demands a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional interpersonal and commercial acumen. The ability to manage customer requests independently and deliver timely, accurate solutions is critical.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of relevant work experience.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • Data Skills: creative, innovative, and analytical.
  • Strong confidence in using and manipulating quantitative performance data.
  • Ability to manipulate big data sets/work with disparate data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and establish strong working relationships with executive management, internal clients, team members and other departments.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experienced in dealing with urgent internal and/or external requests while maintaining the turnaround times for other projects.
  • History of working in a detail-oriented role whereby attention and focus was a priority.
  • Positive can-do attitude, with willingness to learn new ways to accomplish objectives.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management skills.
  • Be a team player, as a member of an international team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of hospitality, data, business management or finance.
  • Knowledge of STR data, products, and clients.
  • Knowledge of hospitality technology; PMS, RMS, BI Tools.
  • Experience of working within the hotel/travel/tourism industry.
  • Financial literacy, including familiarity with P&L statements and related performance indicators.
  • Experience with API integrations and SFTP data transfers is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Load performance data from corporate submissions, automated data feeds, and manual data files.
  • Perform data quality checks, including researching and accepting/rejecting data.
  • Contact data providers to understand and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with properties, clients, and industry professionals regarding STR/CoStar’s policies and guidelines.
  • Notify the research department of any census-related issues (e.g., room supply, open dates).
  • Work with internal stakeholders to monitor and improve participation levels.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly processing procedures.
  • Respond to clients via email in an effective and timely manner.
  • Help teams run pre-processing checks on weekly and monthly data.
  • Generate, check, and send selected reports to corporate clients and individual properties.
  • Act as an internal point of contact for data-related queries.
  • Manage workflow requests and work with clients to assist in the setup of data delivery.
  • Stay knowledgeable of industry trends and industry news that may affect the data.
  • Work on various projects as needed and able.
  • Help clients automate their data submission to STR from various technology vendors.
  • Identify new opportunities for automated data transfer to STR with new technology vendors.
  • Support growth in data participation.
  • Maintain and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables to clients.
  • Complete assigned delivery tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Notify the team and business when there are issues impacting delivery timelines.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., IT, Global Data Operations) to resolve delivery issues efficiently.
  • Adjust and update report setups per client requests.
  • Adhere to STR’s and CoStar’s standards and guidelines for data confidentiality.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.
