About The Position

Shape the future of data transformation within the insurance sector by designing enterprise-scale data models and optimizing modern cloud data platforms. Work with Snowflake, ETL technologies, data lakes, and business intelligence solutions in a fast-paced hybrid environment requiring on-site presence in Markham every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related Information Technology field.
  • 10 years of experience leading data modeling and data design initiatives with expertise in large-scale enterprise data models.
  • Strong experience with data technologies and tools including Snowflake, Hadoop, PostgreSQL, Informatica, DBT Cloud, Airflow, and AWS Glue.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Proven expertise in developing relational databases within a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing models for Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of ER modeling, enterprise data models, big data, and physical data models.
  • Experience with relational, dimensional, and data vault data modeling techniques.
  • Experience establishing documentation standards and frameworks for data quality, data governance, stewardship, and metadata management.
  • Strong experience with ETL processes and ETL tool suites.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard data modeling methodologies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with data modeling software such as SAP PowerDesigner, Microsoft Visio, or ERWIN Data Modeler.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence products.
  • Ability to understand complex business processes driving technical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the ETL data engineering team and business intelligence team to understand database design requirements and model data according to business needs.
  • Collaborate with the ML engineering team to understand requirements for ML models and build data models supporting feature stores.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Implement RDBMS, operational data stores (ODS), data marts, JSON/XML schemas, and data lake schemas on SQL and NoSQL platforms.
  • Extend existing data architecture and optimize data query performance through best practices.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and build database models.
  • Document source-to-target mappings in collaboration with data engineering teams.
  • Apply relational, dimensional, and data vault data modeling techniques.
  • Analyze and support the organization’s data migration requirements.
  • Implement migration rules related to data in collaboration with development teams.
  • Work with data scientists to understand feature engineering needs and design the required logical and physical data models.
  • Support data security initiatives and collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to implement security solutions.
  • Participate in building data design frameworks, metadata integration frameworks, modeling frameworks, and documentation standards.

Benefits

  • Salaried: $90-100 per hour.
  • Incorporated Business Rate: $100-115 per hour.
  • 4-month contract.
  • Day schedule, 37.50 hours per week.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours based on project needs.
