About The Position

The Data Manager I supports district data systems by maintaining student information system records (PowerSchool), assisting staff with system usage, and producing SQL reports to support school and district operations. This position maintains the PowerSchool system and databases, and validates the accuracy of all data sent to the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) and the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC).

  • College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area, or equivalent proven experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update student information system data, including student records, attendance, schedules, grades, transcripts, and assessment records.
  • Administer system security, including user access, permissions, passwords, and read-only access to maintain the confidentiality of student records.
  • Decipher and organize large amounts of data in a way that is meaningful to the user.
  • Design, optimize, and customize SQL queries related to student data, including enrollment, attendance, grades, incidents, and other statistical reports.
  • Manage data feeds to external parties to ensure data accuracy, availability, and security.
  • Develop Python scripts to automate and optimize existing data feeds and daily tasks.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to student information systems and associated software applications.
  • Review USBE and CRDC data requirements to ensure student data meets all specifications. This includes leading the planning and implementation of new requirements when needed.
  • Maintain the integrity of equipment and servers used for data management and other system operations.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to support system improvements and district initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the PowerSchool team and district departments to ensure consistent data practices and reporting procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
