About The Position

This role actively participates in the design, innovation, and implementation of solutions to improve systems and processes. The Associate Business Optimization Strategist assists customers in identifying reporting/data extraction solutions to meet functional needs, streamline operations, and ensure patient safety and confidentiality. This position requires critical thinking skills to assess analytical needs and determine the appropriate course of action, utilizing performance improvement, project management, cost accounting, industrial engineering, and technological skills. Continuous learning of current database structures and business intelligence tools is necessary to confer with customers and other application team members. The role also focuses on building data literacy across departments, helping end users become more confident and self-sufficient with reporting tools, supporting understanding and interpretation of Epic-based reports, and driving adoption of Tableau and Power BI/Fabric dashboards. Additionally, the position involves developing enablement materials, fielding user questions, serving as an associate-level data steward, assisting in maintaining data definitions and documentation, building relationships with departments, gathering user feedback, and developing a working knowledge of reporting tools and data governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or Hospital Administration OR 4 years of data analytics experience.
  • EPIC official designation of “Proficient” within the new hire probationary period.
  • Experience working with relational database structures including design, testing, troubleshooting problems and/or training.
  • Experience in data analysis and/or reporting.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL/Oracle) and/or business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work well under high stress conditions.
  • Ability to work independently or cooperatively as a team member.
  • Ability to adapt to various workloads and assignments.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups and facilitate meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the design, innovation, and implementation of solutions to improve systems and processes.
  • Assist customers in identifying reporting/data extraction solutions to meet functional needs, streamline operations, and ensure patient safety and confidentiality.

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the database structure and business intelligence tools to create required analytical solutions.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for data analytics and process improvement.
  • Perform data analysis and create queries, programs, and automation under the direction of an experienced analyst.
  • Gather requirements and prepare analysis based on information from internal and external sources to evaluate and demonstrate enterprise effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Use basic analytical methods to ensure reported data is meaningful and accurate.
  • Develop technical ability in data analytics using various systems and tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP products.
  • Attend courses in performance improvement activities, system design, technical training, statistical analysis, and other appropriate subjects.
  • Provide assistance in problem identification, resolution, and solution design for a variety of business needs under the direction of an experienced analyst.
  • Project Coordination: Review, identify, and document any issues, barriers, or risks and bring them to management’s attention.

  • Support end users in understanding and interpreting Epic-based reports, building foundational comfort with report structure, filters, and basic data concepts.
  • Drive adoption and confident use of Tableau dashboards among non-technical staff, focusing on self-service navigation and everyday practical use rather than report development.
  • Support departments in adapting to Power BI/Fabric dashboards as part of the organization's shift away from Tableau, easing the transition for non-analytics users.
  • Develop accessible enablement materials — job aids, quick-reference guides, and how-to content — that help users answer their own reporting questions.
  • Field day-to-day questions from departments about accessing, reading, or troubleshooting Epic, Tableau, and Power BI reports, escalating more complex issues as needed.
  • Serve as an associate-level data steward for assigned reporting domains, helping monitor basic data quality, flag inconsistencies, and route data issues to the appropriate analyst or data owner.
  • Assist in maintaining data definitions, report metadata, and documentation to support consistent understanding of key metrics across departments.
  • Build relationships with departments outside Enterprise Analytics to understand their reporting needs and identify recurring data literacy or data quality gaps.
  • Gather and synthesize feedback from end users to help improve report usability, clarity, and data trust over time.
  • Develop working knowledge of the organization's core reporting tools and data governance basics sufficient to explain their purpose to a general, non-technical audience.
