About The Position

Join the Nalley Consulting team at Southcom HQ. This role focuses on establishing and maintaining metadata governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with DoD data management policies and interoperability with a Data Catalog. The Data Governance & Metadata Scientist will develop automated metadata tagging processes to improve data discoverability, classification, and lineage tracking within the Common Intelligence Picture (CIP) platform. They will also implement and manage data governance workflows, ensuring integration with OpenLineage, Unity Catalog, and GIS metadata standards, and submit the Metadata & Data Governance Compliance Report detailing lineage tracking, classification policies, and security enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, GIS, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration.
  • Knowledge and capability to develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring metadata consistency, lineage tracking, and interoperability between Data Lake, ESRI Kubernetes environments, and external data sources.
  • Proficiency in metadata management, data lineage tracking (Unity Catalog/OpenLineage), schema alignment, and governance best practices.
  • Expertise in geospatial data standards, data cataloging, and compliance with DoD metadata policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or similar tools for metadata and data lineage management.
  • Demonstrated experience in enforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets.

Responsibilities
