About The Position

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Data Governance Manager to build and scale a modern governance capability that supports trusted data, responsible AI, and confident decision-making. The role establishes practical operating practices for data ownership, quality, metadata, policy, and stewardship, while building partnerships across business and technology teams. It owns the governance program, operating model, tooling, and team—including Data Governance Leads and Analysts—and is accountable for enterprise-wide governance outcomes. Success includes adoption of the governance operating model across business units and quarter-over-quarter improvements in ownership, quality, and metadata coverage. The position supervises two or more employees and works with business leaders and cross-functional teams to turn governance principles into repeatable, usable practices that support innovation without unnecessary friction. The manager is expected to identify and pilot opportunities for data, AI, and digital capabilities to create business value.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least 7 years of data governance, data management, data quality, metadata, analytics, or related experience.
Working knowledge of data catalogs, lineage, data quality, stewardship, classification, privacy, and enterprise data definitions.
Experience translating governance policy into usable operating processes.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership, communicate clearly, and deliver results in an evolving environment.
Ability to build trusted relationships across the organization while balancing enterprise standards with business needs and operating realities.
Ability to work overtime.
Ability to travel overnight.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Snowflake, dbt, enterprise catalog and lineage tools such as OpenMetadata or Collate, data contracts, Power BI/Fabric, or comparable technologies.
Familiarity with fair-housing and consumer-privacy data handling requirements.
Experience in homebuilding, real estate, construction, mortgage, title, land development, sales, purchasing, finance, customer care, or another distributed operating business.
Experience working in a large enterprise with complex enterprise environments.
Experience founding, incubating, or building new products, capabilities, or businesses from the ground up.

Responsibilities

Implement data governance standards, stewardship workflows, domain ownership, data quality, metadata, lineage, classification, and issue management.
Partner with business leadership to define critical data elements, business terms, KPIs, quality rules, and accountability.
Set team priorities and workload, delegate ownership of domains and programs, and hold the team accountable for results.
Coordinate governance onboarding for priority data products and enterprise domains.
Manage catalog and governance workflows and drive adoption through practical guidance and enablement.
Track governance metrics, data-quality issues, ownership gaps, and remediation progress.
Represent the function in cross-functional discovery, architecture, governance, operational-readiness, and continuous-improvement activities as appropriate.
Stay current on relevant data, AI, digital, software, and industry practices and apply new capabilities when they create practical business value.
Identify, shape, and pilot opportunities where data, AI, and digital capabilities can create business value, with an owner's mindset and a bias toward building, testing, and learning quickly.
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner.
Supervise two or more employees.
