About The Position

We are currently seeking a Data Governance Summer Intern to join our team. At 407 ETR, we are committed to providing meaningful work experiences that empower early career professionals. Highway 407 ETR is an all-electronic open-access toll highway located in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada. The highway spans 108 kilometres from Burlington in the west to Pickering in the east. 407 International Inc. is the sole shareholder of 407 ETR and is owned by: Cintra Global S.E., a subsidiary of Ferrovial S.A. (48.29%), Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) and other institutional investors with non-controlling interests (44.20%), and Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) (7.51%).

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a university/college program (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Business, or related)
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Interest in data governance, data management, and how organizations use data to make decisions
  • Exposure to cloud data environments (AWS preferred) and foundational understanding of databases and data concepts
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document processes, definitions, and standards clearly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working with both technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with multiple business lines (e.g., Revenue Optimization, Business Strategy, HR, Finance) and balancing competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in improving data quality and consistency

Nice To Haves

  • Python is an asset (for analysis, automation, and/or data profiling)

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of enterprise data catalogues (metadata capture, definitions, lineage and ownership)
  • Work with data stewards and data owners to document data elements, business rules, and data quality considerations
  • Prepare presentations, status updates, and supporting materials for the Data Governance Council and related forums
  • Support projects to ingest and onboard new data sources by coordinating metadata requirements and documenting source-to-target details
  • Use SQL and/or Python to assist with metadata profiling, basic analysis, and validation to support cataloging and data quality efforts
  • Having fun while learning a ton and contributing to 407 ETR’s data maturity transformation!
