Job Summary: The Data Governance and Controls Analyst is responsible for analyzing metric data trends and actionable use of data through data queries and trending analysis within the Information Risk Management area. Activities include identification and analyzing data gaps, proactive data analysis and trending, and creation of new metric controls. Work with a broad range of teams and roles across the organization including the MUFG Information Technology of America (ITA) department, Metric Owners, automation teams, and business and technical Subject Matter Expert resources.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of Business / Data Analysis, prior experience working with industry best practices is preferred
  • Data Analysis, Data Query skills, Data Science background and experience required
  • Capacity to identify and understand business needs and incorporate into technical requirement solutions
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills for assessment of complex production support issues and recommend/implement effective solutions
  • Experience with identifying, collecting, and reporting metrics and results
  • Ability to analyze large datasets
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of various teams
  • Experience in the banking or finance institutions preferred
  • Experience with formulation of business analytics
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word required
  • SQL knowledge preferred
  • B.S. Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience equally preferable

  • Tableau, Alteryx or any other BI tool a plus
  • Amazon Web Services a plus
  • Excel pivot tables and macros a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with Metric Owners to validate data source(s) and calculation logic
  • Perform metric value analysis during monthly metric collection period
  • Establish and document monthly repeatable metric value data quality and trending analysis process
  • Liaising between the Business and Technology teams
  • Work with Metrics Factory team members on projects and initiatives
