About The Position

Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to manage and develop reference data sets, ensuring consistency, comprehensiveness, and standardization. This role involves supporting the reference Data Management (RDM) framework, managing insured and broker party types, and developing trust rules and match-merge routines. The analyst will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for master and reference data integration into core underwriting and claims applications, collaborate with Data Product Owners to ensure alignment with data standards, and develop a data quality framework. The position also involves defining frameworks for new data domains, documenting artifacts, educating business partners, and partnering with various teams to ensure consistency in business rules and data models. Additionally, the role includes maintaining a glossary of business terms, advocating for standardization, assessing processes against compliance and security requirements, and communicating with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Math or related field.
  • 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst or closely related position involving data domain ownership and stewardship in the specialty insurance industry.
  • Experience navigating complex, regulated data environments by proactively standardizing processes, strengthening data stewardship and validation routines, and delivering innovative, business-focused analyses and presentations under tight timelines.
  • Applied knowledge of US commercial specialty insurance processes including terminology and concepts through the insurance life cycle.
  • Experience using Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira and AzureDevOps.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers, architects and analysts on data projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing and to be defined reference data sets through the development of procedures, routines, approval flows, and processes.
  • Ensure consistency, comprehensiveness, and standardization of MRSNA data.
  • Support the continued development of the reference Data Management (RDM) framework and solution.
  • Provide input, use case development, and participate in testing for the RDM framework.
  • Manage insured and broker party types, and assist in standing up additional party types and roles.
  • Develop processes and procedures for trust rules and match-merge routines.
  • Implement methodologies for automated and manual review of trust rules and match-merge routines.
  • Function as an SME to represent and guide integration, consumption, and interoperability of master and reference data into core underwriting and claims applications.
  • Collaborate with Data Product Owners to ensure alignment and adoption of standards for data dimensions.
  • Develop a data quality framework to increase data confidence through validation of standards and mitigation routines.
  • Establish Data Quality processes, rules, and avenues of escalation.
  • Define relevant frameworks and solutions for new data domains requiring definition, standardization, and harmonization.
  • Assist in documenting, organizing, and maintaining appropriate repositories for key artifacts.
  • Liaise and educate business partners through community of practice routines.
  • Partner with Data, Product Ownership, Analytics, Actuarial, Distribution, and Claims teams to ensure consistency in business rules, data models, and transformation processes.
  • Maintain and develop a glossary of business terms and related data elements.
  • Advocate for standardization and control mechanisms to optimize cost and efficiency.
  • Assess processes against compliance guidelines and security requirements for internal and external data.
  • Monitor and review privacy policies.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and teams.
  • Develop training and utilization support.
