About The Position

As the Data Engineering Intern, you will write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks. This role is a full-time internship and is remote. This internship is a full-time opportunity requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week and will run from June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available during core business hours for the entire 9-week duration of the program. Please note that all work must be performed within the United States.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher
Strong Python programming skills with ability to write clean, maintainable code
Understanding of SQL and relational data concepts
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and ask for help when needed

Nice To Haves

Experience with Apache Spark or PySpark
Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline design
Exposure to Databricks, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or similar data engineering tools
Familiarity with SQL notebooks or Jupyter notebooks
Experience with testing frameworks or CI/CD concepts

Responsibilities

Write Python code to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks notebooks
Develop data transformations using Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and SQL
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions
Create and optimize Databricks jobs to process data at scale
Write unit tests and validation logic to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability
Document code, workflows, and technical decisions to support team knowledge sharing
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data engineering practices
Troubleshoot data issues and optimize pipeline performance
Learn and apply best practices for building production-grade data platforms
