As a Data Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with a dynamic engineering team to design and optimize data pipelines, enabling actionable insights that enhance vehicle performance and business processes. This role focuses on building robust data infrastructure to support Rivian’s innovation goals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program at an accredited Canadian university.
  • Must have the intent to return to school full-time following the completion of this internship.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation.
  • Applicants must be available to work from our Yaletown Office for the full duration of the Co-op.

Nice To Haves

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical field with the intent to return to school following completion of internship.
  • Experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
  • Familiarity with foundational concepts of scalable data pipelines on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms, such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Google BigQuery.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools such as dbt.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize SQL and Python-based transformation code to process and curate data for analytics and reporting.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT pipelines and analytics workflows.
  • Monitor and improve the performance and reliability of data pipelines, platforms, and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to data modeling efforts and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Work closely with analytics teams to ensure data needs are met and support colleagues across the business.
  • Develop automated testing to champion data quality and integrate systems with CI/CD workflows.
