Requirements

At least two years of production data engineering experience in a comparable environment.
Comfort moving across SQL, Python, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code without needing one of them to be a specialty.
Ability to teach anyone on the first day about healthy data engineering culture, trustworthy production analytics, and what breaks when that culture is absent.
Share lessons learned from prior roles about data quality, pipeline reliability, or stakeholder communication.
Present design decisions on a data pipeline or platform led, including alternatives considered and trade-offs made.
Share favorite SQL pattern, modeling approach, or piece of data craft.

Nice To Haves

Experience with AWS, Redshift and Spectrum, Glue and Fivetran, Airflow, ECS/ECR, DMS, DataHub, Terraform, Python, SQL, and Spark.

Responsibilities

Owns the data warehouse, the orchestration layer, and the pipelines that move data from operational systems.
Focus areas include real-time event ingestion, risk decisioning service redesign, AI-agent data access on Redshift Serverless, ERP/EDI standardization with Finance and Accounting, and AI-assisted workflows across the engineering lifecycle.
Partner directly with Engineering, Risk, Commerce, Accounting, and Compliance, owning both the platform infrastructure and the business problems it's built to solve.
Write code that someone else has to maintain, document parts that are unclear, and prioritize design discussions over production issues.
Ship first commit to production within the first week (bug fix, documentation update, or small improvement).
Complete first end-to-end pipeline or pipeline change in collaboration with a downstream team within the first month.
Start reviewing PRs from other data engineers, providing pragmatic and constructive feedback.
Be the technical lead on a meaningful project from design through implementation, testing, and rollout within the first three months.
Participate in architecture discussions for upcoming work and contribute opinions on platform direction.
Own a meaningful slice of the infrastructure roadmap as the product offering scales.
Become the team's go-to expert on one or more areas of the platform within the first year.
Help hire and onboard new data engineers on the data team.
