About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer for its Digital Technology, Data, Analytics & AI team. The role designs and develops data solutions, including data ingestion and consumption workflows, transformation, modeling, and analytics. The Data Engineer works with data scientists, analysts, architects, business data owners, and other stakeholders to turn data needs into reliable, trustworthy technical solutions that support business impact and aerospace and defense capabilities. The position is remote, with employees working primarily from home and potentially traveling to a site as needed. The successful candidate must reside and work in one of the 50 U.S. states, excluding U.S. territories. Candidates may be asked to attend certain interview steps in person. U.S. citizenship and an active, existing DoD Secret clearance after the first day are required. Candidates must complete a first-round HireVue video screening.

Requirements

Typically, a university degree or equivalent experience and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 5 years of experience.
At least 5 years of experience as a data engineer performing AI-driven data analysis, data modeling, and data transformation.
Strong experience developing and optimizing ETL/ELT processes to ensure data quality and integrity, using tools such as Matillion.
Strong data modeling and architecture skills.
Experience collaborating with business data owners to understand business data needs and translate them into clear, actionable, detailed data requirements.
Experience with SAP Hana, BW, Multipliers, Infocubes, and OData.
U.S. citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
An active and existing DoD Secret clearance is required after day 1.

Experience developing AI to explore, understand, and validate data.
Strong SQL proficiency and experience with relational databases.
Solid experience with Python for data transformation.
Experience with Snowflake and SAP for data warehousing.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, optimize, and maintain scalable data workflows and pipelines in Matillion, using tools such as HVR and Databricks to process data from various sources and leveraging AI-driven automation.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, architects, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Model and structure databases to support business requirements.
Write and optimize SQL queries for data analysis, transformation, and troubleshooting.
Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Follow and advocate established best practices, design patterns, and data governance mandates.
Document data processes, workflows, and technical specifications.
