About The Position

PensionBee is a growing company focused on simplifying retirement savings. Founded in 2014, PensionBee aims to be a global leader in consumer retirement, assisting customers in the UK and US by consolidating their savings into a single online account. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is expanding rapidly. This role is crucial for building the data foundations to support PensionBee's operations, specifically focusing on data pipelines and models for automated regulatory reporting. The position offers an opportunity to join an early-stage team, shape data processes, and contribute to a balanced and inclusive culture.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with a general-purpose programming language (e.g. Python).
  • Solid ETL/ELT and data modelling fundamentals.
  • Experience owning a pipeline or data model end to end.
  • A minimum of ~2 years of relevant data engineering experience, including considering data quality and handling upstream issues.
  • Comfort with high autonomy and ownership, including defining processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Clear, precise written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work effectively and empathically in a multidisciplinary team.
  • A love of learning and personal development.
  • Confidence with good data engineering practices and patterns.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Snowflake, DBT, Airbyte, Dagster, AWS.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Background in a regulated industry (finance, healthcare, etc.).
  • Experience working for companies in Europe / US, directly or through a consulting firm.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, including writing SQL, building ETL/ELT jobs, and integrating data from multiple internal systems into the data warehouse.
  • Owning data modeling for regulatory reports, ensuring data is structured, accurate, well-documented, and that pipelines remain resilient to source system changes.
  • Building data-quality checks into pipelines as a standard practice to ensure issues are caught automatically.
  • Migrating data processes from an older CRM-based system (Salesforce/Conga) to the modern data stack.
  • Collaborating with the Product Development team on data/schema changes affecting reporting and with compliance colleagues on the business logic behind the numbers.
