About The Position

The AWS Compliance & Security Assurance team is responsible for scaling AWS's ability to exceed the security and compliance expectations of our regulators, auditors, and customers globally. As a Data Engineer, you will design and deliver scalable data products that power AWS Security initiatives. The role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that provides startup-like autonomy — you will own data domains end-to-end, from architecture through productionization and lifecycle management. The ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of data engineering experience and demonstrate expertise in developing and managing data solutions at scale. You should excel at translating complex data into meaningful insights through cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders, analysts, and fellow engineers. You will be an integral part of a team that values innovation, technical excellence, and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • 2+ years experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, Lambda, IAM etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, TypeScript.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools and techniques (e.g., generative AI, LLMs, AI-powered development assistants) to accelerate data product delivery, automate data engineering workflows, and enhance code quality and productivity
  • Advanced SQL skills with expertise in query performance tuning
  • Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, etc.)
  • Experience with data pipeline observability, monitoring, and alerting
  • Experience mentoring other engineers on best data engineering practices
  • Experience managing infrastructure as code (e.g., AWS CDK)
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including CI/CD, testing, source control, and operational excellence

Responsibilities

  • Design and own scalable data architecture and pipelines using native AWS technologies (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda) to support BI solutions and customer analytics needs at scale.
  • Build and deploy high-impact data products that transform complex datasets into actionable intelligence for internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Business Intelligence Engineers and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data engineering solutions.
  • Partner with Software Engineering teams to distill large, complicated datasets into digestible analytical insights.
  • Insist on the highest standards by recognizing and adopting best practices in data engineering (e.g., data lineage, data integrity, data quality, pipeline observability).
  • Actively participate in code reviews and design discussions to identify simplification opportunities and propose scalable solutions.
