As a Data Engineer on the Global Data Foundation team, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining end-to-end data solutions that power critical business decisions and product experiences at scale. You will be responsible for designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines, transformation workflows, and consumption-layer data products, integrating diverse technologies to deliver cohesive, high-quality data assets. This includes working with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark and Scala, orchestration tools like Airflow, storage systems including Hive, BigQuery, and GCS, and streaming platforms such as Kafka. In this role, you will leverage your data engineering expertise to ensure data solutions are accurate, efficient, and aligned with Walmart’s business goals. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Platform Engineers—to ensure the timely delivery and high performance of data products. Additionally, you will help drive best practices in pipeline development, data quality validation, metadata management, and deployment, while staying current with evolving industry trends and technologies across the data ecosystem. About the Customer Area Customer Area Tech focuses on managing and delivering world-class products, driving policy compliance, building strategic partnerships, and developing scalable pipelines and self-service tools. The organization is responsible for implementing Global Privacy Technology Products to earn customer and associate trust. We also analyze customer data to generate insights that inform business decisions and drive improvements in customer experiences across retail operations. By leveraging advanced data science techniques and tools, we aim to understand customer behavior and trends at scale.
