About The Position

Eight Sleep is revolutionizing sleep optimization through cutting-edge technology, and we need a world-class Data Engineer to power our next phase of hypergrowth. You'll architect and build the data infrastructure that drives decisions for millions of users while working with some of the smartest minds in health tech. This isn't just another data role—you'll be the technical architect behind systems that directly impact human wellness at scale and fuel our exponential growth. From real-time sleep analytics to ML-powered personalization to the data infrastructure driving our rapid global expansion, your work will shape how people sleep better every night while powering how we scale to millions more users. We prefer someone based out of our NYC HQ or SF Office.

Requirements

6+ years building production data platforms that support high-stakes decision-making at scale—you've seen what works and what breaks
Mastery of modern data stack: SQL, Python, DBT, Snowflake, and the judgment to know when to use each tool
Proven track record designing both batch and streaming architectures that handle massive scale while maintaining sub-second performance
Cross-functional leadership experience—you can translate complex technical concepts into business value and influence without authority
Obsession with quality and reliability—you build systems that just work, with monitoring and testing that catches issues before users do
Communication superpowers—you can present to the C-suite, debug with engineers, and mentor junior teammates with equal effectiveness
Deep expertise in data modeling and warehousing—you think in terms of dimensional models, star schemas, OBT, and performance optimization, and know where each solution thrives
