About The Position

Booz Allen is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to architect, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and platforms that transform complex data into actionable insights. In this role, you will lead a team of data engineers to design modern, cloud-native solutions integrating structured and unstructured data across secure environments. You will serve as a technical and strategic leader, responsible for building and maintaining enterprise data infrastructure that powers analytics, reporting, and mission-critical decision-making. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will set engineering standards, ensure data quality, and drive innovation, enabling the organization to leverage data as a secure and strategic asset at scale. This position blends technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to deliver high-quality, reliable, and secure data solutions across cloud and distributed systems. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with building and maintaining data pipelines
  • 5+ years of experience with ETL development in Java, and NiFi, Python, or Scala
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, or Kafka
  • Experience with AWS services, including RDS and Aurora
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or Engineering field
  • Ability to obtain a Security+ Certification within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, or other Kafka ecosystem tools
  • Experience with NiFi for data flow automation
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, or related orchestration tools
  • Experience with monitoring tools, such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Elasticsearch
  • Experience with real-time data and streaming architectures
