About The Position

Ancestry is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to work with unique, large data sets and contribute to furthering Ancestry's big data footprint. The position involves close collaboration with Business Intelligence, Data Infrastructure, and Data Services teams to develop and mature data systems and architecture. The successful candidate will be a critical part of the data platform team, responsible for scaling and validating the data platform to meet Ancestry’s data growth. They will also develop, deploy, and support a new automated real-time streaming system for streamlining data lifecycle management and deploy IAC (Infrastructure as Code) to establish the infrastructure utilized by data pipelines.

Requirements

Experience in Java and a framework such as Spring Boot with 3+ years of experience in an enterprise environment
B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field required
Experience in Big Data ecosystems, including Spark and Kafka
Proficiency in database technologies MySQL (Aurora), Redshift or equivalent
Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure as code tool
RESTful web service development
Good familiarity with AWS AI tools
Experience with AWS Cloud automated deployments

Responsibilities

Be a critical part of the data platform team, be responsible for scaling and validating the data platform to meet Ancestry’s data growth.
Develop, deploy, and support real-time a new automated system streaming for streamlining data lifecycle management.
Deploy IAC (Infrastructure as Code) to lay down the infrastructure that the data pipelines utilize.
