Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in data engineering or platform engineering roles
  • Prior experience with data catalog platforms (e.g.: Open Metadata, Collibra, Alation, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data warehouse and lake architectures
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms or Kubernetes (e.g.: CKA, AWS Solutions Architect, etc.)
  • Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g.: Apache Airflow, GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
  • Must have an active TS/SCI level clearance and a willingness to sit for a polygraph

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate design solutions with development/engineering team and customer
  • Experience with data governance, data normalization or metadata management initiatives
  • Building out and using CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with standard AI models and practices
  • Understanding of loop logic and lang graph

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and configure Open Metadata using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts
  • Manage infrastructure across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) or on-premises environments
  • Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or similar tools
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and system scalability
  • Configure and maintain connectors for diverse data sources including databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server), data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI), and pipeline orchestrators (Airflow, dbt)
  • Develop custom connectors and integrations using Python
  • Implement and monitor metadata ingestion workflows
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and data lineage issues
  • Administer MySQL/PostgreSQL metadata store including backup, recovery, and performance tuning
  • Manage Elasticsearch for search functionality and optimize query performance
  • Monitor database health and implement scaling strategies
  • Configure authentication mechanisms (SSO, OAuth, LDAP/Active Directory)
  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and data access policies
  • Ensure encryption at rest and in transit
  • Maintain compliance with data governance standards and regulations
  • Set up monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, and logging tools
  • Track system performance, ingestion metrics, and data quality indicators
  • Respond to incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Create and maintain operational documentation and runbooks
  • Partner with data stewards, engineers, and analysts to understand metadata requirements
  • Train users on data catalog features and best practices
  • Support data governance initiatives and policy implementation
  • Participate in change management and platform upgrades
